The PlumbEZ Slimline Automatic Air Vent (1/2" BSP) is a compact, float-operated self-bleeding vent designed to remove trapped air from radiators, boilers and sealed (closed-loop) central heating systems. Releasing air as it accumulates helps reduce gurgling and noisy pipework, improves circulation, and can help prevent cold spots and corrosion caused by air in the circuit. This model includes an integrated shut-off/check valve, allowing the vent to be removed or replaced for servicing without draining the system (when installed correctly). This makes it a practical choice for boiler rooms, cylinder cupboards, manifolds, radiator risers and towel rail circuits where downtime and access can be a headache. How it works Inside the vent, a float mechanism responds automatically: when air collects in the chamber the float drops to open the outlet and release air; when water rises back into the chamber the float lifts to close the seal. For best performance, install the vent upright/vertical at a high point in the system where air is likely to gather.
